The 24-year-old Karnataka pacer, who rose to national prominence after a breakout 2024 IPL season with Royal Challengers Bengaluru where he picked up 17 wickets in 12 matches at an economy rate of 7.82, revealed that Siraj has been his biggest role model since he entered the domestic cricket circuit. “Siraj bhai’s journey is something every young cricketer from a humble background can look up to,” Vyshak shared. “He grew up playing on the streets of Hyderabad, worked odd jobs to support his family, and fought through countless rejections to become India’s leading fast bowler across formats. Whenever we are at national camps or together for IPL fixtures, he always makes time to talk to me about the importance of patience, consistency, and never taking your spot in the team for granted. He even sat with me for three hours last month to analyze my bowling action, and gave me specific tips on how to adjust my run-up to get more swing in high-altitude venues like Bengaluru. He also taught me to prioritize recovery over short-term performance gains, a lesson that has helped me stay fit through the grueling IPL schedule this year.” Vyshak also spoke at length about the critical mental support he received from Prasidh Krishna and Arshdeep Singh when he was first called up to the Indian national T20 squad earlier this year. “I was extremely nervous when I walked into the national dressing room for the first time, I almost felt like I didn’t belong there,” he recalled. “Prasidh bhai noticed I was quiet, came up to me immediately, introduced me to everyone, and even offered to share his recovery routines with me to help me avoid the stress injuries he had suffered earlier in his career. Arshdeep, who is only a year older than me but has so much international experience, would check in on me after every net session. Whenever I had a bad outing in the IPL, he would text me late at night to remind me not to fixate on social media criticism, and to focus on the process instead of the results.
