Entering the match, Cremonese sat just one point above the Serie A relegation zone, looking to pick up crucial home points to cement their top-flight status, while Torino targeted three points to climb into the European qualification spots, sitting just two points behind 6th-placed Atalanta ahead of kickoff. The first half played out as a tight, physical contest, with both sides struggling to break down organized defensive blocks. Torino controlled 62% of possession in the opening 45 minutes, with striker Antonio Sanabria coming closest in the 22nd minute, firing a low drive from the edge of the box that drifted just inches wide of Paleari’s left post. Cremonese responded with a set-piece chance in the 37th minute, when center-back Emanuele Bianchetti rose highest to meet a corner kick, only to see his header palmed away by Torino goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic. The second half opened with Torino ramping up their attacking pressure, bringing on Federico Bonazzoli and Nikola Vlasic just before the hour mark to add more cutting edge up front. The visitors looked set to grab all three points in the 78th minute, when Vlasic whipped a pinpoint cross into the six-yard box that found Bonazzoli completely unmarked. The striker hit a ferocious first-time volley that looked destined for the top corner, only for Paleari to react in a fraction of a second, leaping to his right to tip the ball over the crossbar with a single outstretched glove. The entire stadium erupted in shock at the save, with Paleari’s teammates swarming him to celebrate the remarkable stop. Both sides pushed for a winner in stoppage time, with Cremonese winger Felix Afena-Gyan forcing another sharp save from Milinkovic-Savic in the 93rd minute, but neither could find the breakthrough. The result leaves Cremonese three points clear of the relegation zone, while Torino stays 7th in the Serie A table, two points off the Europa Conference League qualification spots. Paleari was named man of the match for his performance, which included seven total saves across the 90 minutes, and his late stop on Bonazzoli is already being widely circulated as one of the best saves of the 2024-25 Serie A campaign so far.

Paleari was absolutely unbeatable today! That save on Bonazzoli is already a contender for Serie A save of the season, there’s no way any keeper on the planet stops that shot unless they have lightning reflexes like him. We’ve been crying out for a consistent keeper for years, and he’s been a total revelation for us this season. That clean sheet is worth its weight in gold for our relegation fight.

As a Torino fan, I’m absolutely gutted. We controlled the entire game, had way more clear-cut chances, and just couldn’t finish. Bonazzoli had that winner in the bag, I already jumped out of my seat to celebrate before Paleari pulled off that superhuman stop. We can’t keep dropping points against lower-half teams if we actually want to make it to Europe this year, our finishing has been terrible all season.

That save alone made the entire match worth watching. People see a 0-0 scoreline and assume it’s boring, but this was a super intense, end-to-end clash with so much drama. Paleari’s reaction time was insane, you can tell how much that stop meant to his teammates and the home fans, the whole stadium went crazy after it. Well deserved point for both sides in the end.
