First, the official starting lineups for both squads have been released ahead of first pitch. For the visiting Brewers, right-handed ace Freddy Peralta gets the start on the mound, entering the game with a 3.21 ERA and 67 strikeouts across 56 innings pitched this season. His supporting batting order leads off with left fielder Christian Yelich, who carries a .302 batting average and 11 home runs into the contest, followed by shortstop Willy Adames, first baseman Rhys Hoskins, center fielder Garrett Mitchell, and catcher William Contreras rounding out the top 5. On the Tigers’ side, left-handed Cy Young candidate Tarik Skubal takes the mound, boasting an impressive 2.76 ERA and 82 strikeouts through 62 innings this year. His batting order leads off with second baseman Andy Ibanez, followed by center fielder Riley Greene, first baseman Spencer Torkelson, right fielder Kerry Carpenter, and designated hitter Mark Canha as the core of the Tigers’ power-heavy lineup. As of the top of the third inning, the game is tied 1-1 after an early back-and-forth. The Tigers got on the board first in the bottom of the first inning, when Torkelson crushed a 3-1 fastball from Peralta 423 feet to left field for a solo home run, his 12th long ball of the season. The Brewers responded quickly in the top of the second, when Adames drew a two-out walk before Yelich laced a line drive double down the right field line, scoring Adames easily to knot the score. Both starters have looked sharp through the early frames: Skubal has recorded 4 strikeouts while allowing just 1 hit and 1 walk, and Peralta has notched 3 strikeouts with 2 hits allowed and 1 earned run. Live updates will continue to roll out every half-inning, including real-time score changes, key defensive plays, pitching changes, and critical at-bat results. Full game highlights, including replays of Torkelson’s home run, Yelich’s RBI double, and any future game-changing plays, will be posted to the official MLB website and social media channels within 5 minutes of each play occurring. Fans can also access live play-by-play commentary via the MLB Ballpark app, with optional push notifications for all scoring plays. With both teams holding winning records and fighting for top positions in their respective division standings, tonight’s game is expected to stay competitive through the final out. Both bullpens have been activated and are ready to enter as needed, with Brewers closer Devin Williams and Tigers closer Alex Lange both available for save situations if the game remains tight in the late innings.

As a lifelong Tigers fan, I couldn’t be happier with how Skubal is dealing tonight! That 99 mph fastball he used to strike out Hoskins in the second inning was absolutely filthy, if he keeps this pace up he’s definitely going to get the win and keep his Cy Young case rolling.

Yelich has been on an absolute tear the last three weeks, that RBI double was exactly the spark the Brewers needed to bounce back after the early home run. I’m hoping Adames can connect for a go-ahead homer in the fifth inning, he’s had great success against left-handed pitchers this year.

This cross-league matchup is way more entertaining than most of the prime time games we’ve gotten this season! Both aces are pitching at their best, the defense has been rock solid so far, and we’ve already got a highlight-reel home run and a clutch RBI hit in just the first three innings. 100% worth staying up late to catch the rest of this one.

I’m really impressed with how Peralta has bounced back after giving up that first-inning home run. He’s retired 6 of the last 7 batters he’s faced, and his slider is looking unhittable right now. If the Brewers’ offense can pick him up with a couple more runs, they’ve got a great shot to take this road win.
