Celta’s lineup featured veteran striker Iago Aspas, who has scored 11 goals against Barca in his career, alongside new signing Swedish striker Hugo Larsson. The match opened at a blistering pace, with Barca dominating possession from the first whistle. Yamal made his first impact in the 12th minute, beating two Celta defenders down the right flank before delivering a pinpoint low cross to Lewandowski, who tapped home from 6 yards out to put the hosts 1-0 up. The young winger continued to cause chaos for Celta’s defense, drawing three fouls in the first 20 minutes as the away side struggled to contain his pace and trickery. Celta equalized against the run of play in the 32nd minute, when Aspas curled a 25-yard free kick into the top corner past a diving ter Stegen, sending the 3,000 traveling Celta fans into delirium. The score remained 1-1 going into half time, with Xavi making one change at the break, bringing on Gavi for Gundogan to add more energy to the Barca midfield. Barca retook the lead in the 67th minute, as Yamal cut in from the right wing, dribbled past two Celta players, and fired a low shot that deflected off Celta defender Unai Nunez and looped over the goalkeeper into the net. The goal made Yamal the youngest player in LaLiga history to score 10 senior league goals, extending the record he set earlier this season. Ferran Torres put the result beyond doubt in the 82nd minute, tapping home a rebound after Raphinha’s shot was saved, making the final score 3-1. The win cuts Real Madrid’s lead at the top of LaLiga to 2 points, with the first El Clasico of the season scheduled for next month. Yamal was named Man of the Match for his 1 goal and 1 assist performance, with pundits already tipping him as a leading candidate for the 2025 Ballon d’Or.

Lamine Yamal is absolutely unreal! I still can’t wrap my head around the fact that a 17-year-old is putting in Man of the Match performances week in and week out for Barca in a tight title race. That run and cross for Lewandowski’s opener was pure genius, he’s already a generational talent.

Celta put up a way better fight than I expected in the first half! Aspas is still such a beast at 36, that free kick was absolute perfection. At the end of the day though, Barca just had too much quality up front, 3-1 is a fair result for both sides.

As a Celta fan, this stings because we really needed the points to stay clear of the relegation zone, but we can’t complain when we’re up against someone as special as Yamal. We just couldn’t find a way to stop him all game, hopefully we bounce back against Getafe next week.

Xavi’s half-time change was a total masterstroke! Bringing Gavi on gave Barca so much more energy in midfield, and shifting Yamal to a more central position made him impossible for Celta’s fullbacks to track. This win could be the turning point that makes Barca win the title this season.
