Detroit Pistons power forward Paul Reed, widely known by his beloved fan nickname "BBall Paul", has announced an exciting new partnership with Detroit-based fast casual chain Savvy Sliders to launch an exclusive signature meal under his famous moniker. The collaboration, which marks the first time Savvy Sliders has teamed up with an active NBA player, blends Reed’s personal food preferences with the brand’s iconic slider offerings to create a limited-edition menu item available across all 32 Savvy Sliders locations in Michigan throughout the 2024-25 NBA preseason and first month of the regular season.
The official "BBall Paul" meal includes three custom spicy BBQ sliders loaded with crispy fried onions, dill pickles, and a secret house sauce co-developed by Reed himself, alongside a large order of seasoned curly fries, a branded blue raspberry lemonade, and a free exclusive BBall Paul collectible, ranging from custom sticker packs and mini basketball keychains to limited-edition Paul Reed trading cards for the first 100 customers at each location on launch weekend.
Beyond offering a unique menu item for fans and food lovers alike, the partnership carries a strong community-focused mission: 15% of all proceeds from every BBall Paul meal sold will be donated to the Detroit Youth Basketball Foundation, a local non-profit that provides free basketball training, equipment, and league access to underprivileged youth across the city.
Reed, who joined the Detroit Pistons in a 2024 offseason trade, shared that the collaboration was a natural fit as he has worked to embed himself in the Detroit community since arriving in the city. "I’ve been a fan of slider spots my whole life, and when I first tried Savvy Sliders a few months after moving to Detroit, I knew I wanted to work with them somehow," Reed said in a press conference announcing the launch. "Getting to put my own twist on their menu, and more importantly, use the collab to support kids in the city who love basketball as much as I did growing up, is a dream come true. I can’t wait to see fans posting their meals, and I might even pop up at a few locations unannounced to surprise people who come out to support."
Savvy Sliders CEO Jamie Richardson echoed Reed’s excitement, noting that the brand prioritizes partnerships that align with its commitment to serving and uplifting the Detroit community. "Paul’s energy, his down-to-earth personality, and his dedication to giving back make him the perfect partner for us," Richardson said. "We didn’t want a generic celebrity endorsement—we wanted someone who would actually help build the recipe and care about the impact the collab has, and Paul delivered 100%."
Fans who purchase the BBall Paul meal are also encouraged to share photos of their order on Instagram and X using the hashtag #BBallPaulMeal for a chance to win two tickets to a Pistons home game in November, plus a meet-and-greet with Reed before tipoff.

As a lifelong Detroiter and Pistons season ticket holder, I’ve been obsessed with Savvy Sliders for years and Paul Reed has quickly become my favorite new player on the roster. I lined up at the downtown location on launch day and the BBall Paul meal did NOT disappoint—those spicy BBQ sliders taste exactly like what I’d imagine Paul eats before a big game. Love that part of the proceeds go to local youth hoops too, this is such a perfect collab for our city.
Tried the BBall Paul meal yesterday for a food review and I’m genuinely impressed. The sliders are way more flavorful than most signature athlete meals I’ve tested, you can tell Paul actually had input on the recipe instead of just slapping his name on a pre-existing menu item. The custom lemonade is also super refreshing, 10/10 would recommend even if you’re not a Pistons fan.
My 10 year old son plays in the Detroit Youth Basketball League that this collab is supporting, so we made a whole family trip out of getting the meal this weekend. He was so excited to get the mini basketball keychain and keeps asking when he can meet Paul. It’s so cool to see pro athletes give back to the communities they play for instead of just chasing national brand deals. Go Pistons!
