Key keywords: Chapecoense vs Botafogo FR, Shots on Target Odds, 2024 Brazilian Serie A, Football Betting Markets, In-Game Performance Metrics, South American Football Odds, Expected Goals (xG) Data, Pre-Match Football Analysis The upcoming 2024 Brazilian Serie A fixture between Chapecoense and Botafogo FR at Arena Conda has drawn massive attention from football bettors and analysts alike, with shots on target odds emerging as one of the most heavily traded markets across global bookmakers over the past 48 hours. Chapecoense, who earned promotion back to the top flight of Brazilian football last season, have built their 2024 campaign around a compact defensive structure and rapid counter-attacks on home turf, while Botafogo FR enters the fixture as one of the clear title favourites, sitting 2nd in the league table after 12 rounds with an average of 1.8 goals per game. As of press time, leading bookmakers including Bet365, Betano, and DraftKings have released updated shots on target odds for the clash: Botafogo FR’s total shots on target over 4.5 is priced at 1.83, with the under 4.5 line at 1.97; Chapecoense’s over 2.5 shots on target sits at 2.05, with the under option at 1.80. The combined shots on target market also sees exceptionally high trading volume, with over 6.5 total shots on target priced at 1.72, and the under line at 2.10. Performance data from the 2024 season backs up these pricing decisions: Botafogo’s star forward Tiquinho Soares has registered 2.1 shots on target per game over his last 5 appearances, while attacking midfielder Lucas Fernandes averages 1.3 shots on target per 90 minutes, contributing to the side’s league-leading average of 5.4 shots on target per away game. Chapecoense, meanwhile, has averaged 3.2 shots on target per home game in 2024, though that number drops to 2.1 per game against sides in the top 6 of the Serie A table, a category Botafogo falls into. Historical head to head data further informs the odds: across their last 3 meetings, Botafogo averaged 5.1 shots on target per game, while Chapecoense averaged 2.8, resulting in a combined average of 7.9 shots on target per fixture. Over the past 24 hours, betting volume on Botafogo’s over 4.5 shots on target has risen by 37%, according to data from betting analytics platform OddsChecker, as bettors factor in the confirmation that Chapecoense’s first-choice centre-back Paulinho will miss the fixture through suspension. Minor rainfall is expected at Arena Conda on matchday, which some analysts note may slightly reduce shooting accuracy, though most agree the impact will be minimal given both sides’ familiarity with wet playing conditions in Brazilian football. Bookmakers also offer niche shots on target sub-markets, including odds of 2.35 for Tiquinho Soares to register 2+ shots on target individually, and 1.91 for the two sides to combine for 2.5+ shots on target in the first half alone.

As a long-time Brazilian Serie A bettor, I’m really surprised to see Chapecoense’s over 2.5 shots on target odds sitting at 2.05 right now. They’ve been rock solid at home this season, even against top sides like Palmeiras they managed 3 shots on target last month. I’m putting a small stake on that market for sure.

Botafogo’s attack has been on fire lately, Tiquinho alone is getting 2+ shots on target per game almost every week. The over 4.5 shots on target for Botafogo at 1.83 feels like a steal, especially since Chapecoense’s defensive line has conceded an average of 5.2 shots on target per home game against top 6 teams this season.

Don’t sleep on the first half shots on target market here! Both teams tend to come out fast in the opening 45 minutes, and in their last 2 head to heads, they combined for 3+ shots on target in the first half both times. The 1.91 odds for over 2.5 first half shots on target is way better value than the full time market in my opinion.

I’m holding off on betting the over for total shots on target because of the rain forecast. Wet balls make it way harder to hit the target consistently, and Chapecoense will probably sit deep the entire game to limit Botafogo’s chances. The under 6.5 at 2.10 feels like the smarter pick to me.
