Today’s roundup on Pinstripe Alley, the leading independent fan community for the New York Yankees, leads with full coverage of the team’s dramatic 5-3 11-inning win over division rivals the Boston Red Sox at Yankee Stadium on May 24, 2026. The highly anticipated AL East matchup drew a sold-out crowd of 48,721 to the Bronx, with fans tuning in across 12 regional markets to watch the two historic rivals face off for the third time this season.
Right-hander Gerrit Cole got the start for the Yankees, turning in one of his sharpest outings of the 2026 campaign: he tossed 7 scoreless innings, notching 9 strikeouts while surrendering just 3 hits and 1 walk, before turning the ball over to the bullpen to start the 8th. Reliever Wandy Peralta ran into trouble with one out, giving up a 2-run double to Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers that tied the game at 3-3, after the Yankees had jumped out to an early 3-0 lead on a pair of RBI singles from left fielder Juan Soto and second baseman Gleyber Torres in the 2nd and 5th innings. The bullpen bounced back immediately, with Ron Marinaccio, Tommy Kahnle, and Clay Holmes combining for 3 straight shutout innings to keep the game tied heading into the bottom of the 11th.
With two outs and baserunner Anthony Volpe on first base, reigning AL MVP Aaron Judge stepped to the plate against Red Sox closer Kenley Jansen, crushing a 1-0 96 mph fastball 457 feet into the left field bleachers for a walk-off 2-run home run, his 22nd homer of the season. The hit extended Judge’s league-leading RBI total to 52, and pushed the Yankees’ 2026 record to 34-15, 4.5 games clear of the second-place Toronto Blue Jays atop the AL East standings.
In addition to full game highlights and uncut post-game press conference footage, today’s Pinstripe Alley content includes a 15-minute deep dive into Anthony Volpe’s defensive improvements this season – the 25-year-old shortstop posted a 98th percentile outs above average rating through 49 games, and made a game-saving diving stop to end the top of the 10th inning on Friday – as well as a fan poll to vote for the team’s best play of the first two months of the season, and a full preview of the Yankees’ upcoming 7-game road trip against the Tampa Bay Rays and Minnesota Twins. The site also launched a limited edition commemorative t-shirt line celebrating Judge’s walk-off, with 10% of all proceeds going to the Yankees Foundation for youth sports programs in the Bronx.

Bronx_Bomber_4Life: I was sitting in section 203 tonight and when Judge connected on that walk-off, I swear I screamed so loud I lost my voice for 10 minutes. This is exactly why we pay the big bucks for season tickets – moments like that you can’t put a price on. Pinstripe Alley’s game recap had all the slow-mo clips I needed to re-live it 20 times already today!
StatNerd_YanksFan: Let’s not sleep on Cole’s start either – he threw 92 pitches for 66 strikes, only gave up 3 hits, and that’s his 7th straight start with 6+ innings pitched and under 3 ER. The AL Cy Young race is his to lose right now, and if we keep this pace up in the AL East, we’re locking up the division by mid-September easy.
CasualYanksFan99: I almost turned the game off when the Red Sox tied it in the 8th, I’m so glad I didn’t. Volpe’s diving stop in the 10th saved the game for us way before Judge’s homer, too – I hope Pinstripe Alley does a longer feature on his defensive improvements this year, he’s come so far from his rookie slump a couple years ago.
RedSoxSux2026: As a Red Sox fan I hate to admit it, but that was a perfectly hit ball from Judge. We just couldn’t get anything going against the bullpen after the 8th, and Jansen’s fastball was right over the plate. Pinstripe Alley’s recap was way fairer than most of the Yankee-focused coverage I’ve seen, I’ll give you guys that.
