Fallout 76 Reveals Pspsps-TS World Pets Testing Server in Latest Inside the Vault Update

Key keywords: Fallout 76, Inside the Vault, Pspsps-TS, World Pets Testing Server, Appalachia companion pets, post-apocalyptic pet mechanics, player-owned pet system, Fallout 76 public test server, wasteland pet customization The latest Fallout 76 Inside the Vault community update has officially announced the launch of the Pspsps-TS, shorthand for the World Pets Testing Server, a dedicated public test environment built exclusively to trial the game’s long-awaited player-owned world pet system. For years, Fallout 76 players across Appalachia have requested the ability to bring companion pets beyond the borders of their C.A.M.P.s, a feature previously limited to stationary camp pets that could not join players on exploration runs, event battles, or cross-map quests. The Pspsps-TS, named for the common verbal cue used to call cats and other small animals, is designed to stress-test every element of the new pet system before its planned full launch in Q4 2024. During the 4-week Pspsps-TS testing window, eligible players (those with a level 20+ character on live servers and no prior account bans) can opt in to access the test server, where they will be able to test 12 initial pet variants: including standard wasteland dogs, feral radcat variants, juvenile molerats, tamed radstag fawns, and even friendly deathclaw pups unlocked via a special temporary quest line exclusive to the test server. Testers will be asked to provide structured feedback on a wide range of mechanics: pet combat assistance (including enemy alerts, item looting support, and low-level enemy takedowns), pet survival rules (including hunger/thirst meters, temporary downed states instead of permanent death, and revival item requirements), pet customization options (including collars, fur patterns, and unique accessory skins), and cross-server pet sync functionality to ensure pets stay linked to player accounts across game sessions. Bethesda has also confirmed that all active Pspsps-TS testers who submit at least 3 valid bug reports or feedback forms during the testing period will receive an exclusive "First Friend" pet collar skin and a limited edition C.A.M.P. pet bed decoration for their live server accounts. The development team noted that the World Pets system was one of the top 3 most requested features in the 2023 Fallout 76 community survey, and the dedicated test server is meant to avoid the buggy launches that plagued some earlier game updates, by collecting real player data on edge cases like pet behavior during large public events, fast travel sync, and PvP server interactions. Players can sign up for Pspsps-TS access starting today via the Bethesda Launcher or Steam, with the first test phase kicking off on October 16, 2024.

I’ve been begging for this feature ever since I tamed a tiny black radcat at my C.A.M.P. 3 years ago! I already submitted my test application yesterday, and I’m already brainstorming names for the deathclaw pup I hope to unlock during the test. This is easily the most excited I’ve been for a Fallout 76 update in years.

I’m really glad they’re using a dedicated test server for this instead of rolling it straight to live. My biggest hope is that they don’t make pets too squishy - I don’t want to lose my pet halfway through a Scorchbeast Queen event because it got one-shot by an AOE attack. The temporary downed state they mentioned sounds perfect, as long as reviving them doesn’t cost a ton of rare resources.

Whoever came up with the name Pspsps-TS deserves a raise, that’s the funniest test server name I’ve ever seen from a triple A studio. I really hope they add a ‘pet’ interaction animation too, not just commands to follow or stay. I want to be able to sit on my C.A.M.P. porch and scratch my dog’s ears after a long run through the Mire.

I’m curious to see how they balance pets in PvP servers. I hope pets don’t attack other players unprompted, or that there’s an option to set them to passive mode so I don’t accidentally start a fight with another player just because my molerat decided to nip someone’s ankle. Looking forward to testing that out if I get access.
