Key keywords: Outer Banks Season 5, OBX Season 5 release date, Outer Banks Season 5 first trailer, Outer Banks Season 5 storyline, Pogues vs Kooks, John B and Sarah Cameron, Outer Banks final season, Netflix original series Netflix officially dropped long-awaited updates for the hit teen adventure series *Outer Banks* on Tuesday, confirming Season 5 will premiere globally on the streaming platform on February 13, 2025, marking the final chapter of the Pogues’ wild treasure-hunting journey. Alongside the release date announcement, Netflix also unveiled the official first trailer for Season 5 and shared core details of the closing storyline, sending long-time fans into a frenzy across social media platforms. Picking up immediately after the shocking Season 4 finale, where the Pogues uncovered a 300-year-old clue linking Blackbeard’s lost fortune to a secret tied to Pope Heyward’s ancestral lineage, Season 5 raises the stakes higher than ever before. The core friend group, led by John B Routledge, will face off against two formidable threats: the remaining loyalists of the late Ward Cameron, led by his unhinged son Rafe, who is determined to seize the entire treasure for himself to rebuild the Cameron family empire, and a ruthless international artifact smuggling ring that has been tracking the Blackbeard legend for decades. The group will also be forced to confront long-buried secrets about their own families that threaten to tear the found family they have built apart. The official 2-minute first trailer opens with the Pogues enjoying a rare peaceful moment on a remote Bahamas beach, before cutting to fast-paced sequences of high-speed boat chases through the marshlands of the Outer Banks, tense standoffs in abandoned coastal warehouses, and emotional moments between core couples. John B is seen holding the tattered 18th-century navigation log that holds the key to the treasure, telling the group “This is our last run. We either walk away with everything we’ve ever fought for, or we lose it all for good.” The trailer also teases major relationship milestones: JJ Maybank and Kiara Carrera share a soft beach hug confirming their long-awaited romantic relationship, Pope and Cleo work together to decode his family’s hidden history, and Sarah Cameron is shown in a heated face-off with Rafe, warning him “You’ll never take what’s ours.” Netflix also confirmed that Season 5 will consist of 10 episodes, with all dropping at once for global viewers on the premiere date. Showrunner Jonas Pate shared in an accompanying statement that the final season will tie up all loose ends from previous seasons, honor the core theme of found family that made the series a global hit, and deliver the most high-octane, emotional story the Pogues have ever faced.

FINALLY!!! I’ve been refreshing Netflix’s social pages every single day for OBX S5 news ever since the S4 finale dropped. The trailer looks so intense—John B and Sarah better get their happy ending after all the chaos they’ve been through, I swear if one of the Pogues dies I’ll never recover 😭

JJ and Kiara’s little beach hug in the trailer is already sending me. They’ve been my favorite ship since S1 and I’m so glad we get to see their relationship develop in the final season. Also can we talk about Pope and Cleo teaming up to dig into Pope’s family legacy? That subplot is gonna be so good.

Loving that they’re bringing back the high-stakes treasure hunting vibe that made S1 so iconic. The Rafe vs Sarah confrontation tease has me on the edge of my seat, he’s such a great unhinged villain. Can’t believe it’s the final season but if they stick the landing this will go down as one of the best teen adventure shows ever made.

I’m so excited the release date is on Valentine’s Day week! Me and my friends already planned a watch party with Pogue-themed snacks and costumes, we’re gonna binge all 10 episodes in one sitting no matter how long it takes.
