On his final flying lap, Antonelli navigated every tricky section of the circuit flawlessly, hitting every apex perfectly and avoiding the mistakes that hampered his rivals, to cross the line with a time of 1:27.342. He finished 0.128 seconds ahead of second-place Leclerc, and 0.187 seconds clear of third-place Verstappen. In post-qualifying interviews, a stunned Antonelli said, “This is a dream I’ve had since I was 5 years old watching races at Silverstone with my dad. The team gave me the perfect car and the perfect strategy, and I just focused on putting in a clean lap.
