Daredevil: Born Again Star Finn Jones Teases Comic-Accurate Iron Fist Costume Upgrade For Season 3

Key keywords: Finn Jones, Iron Fist, Daredevil: Born Again Season 3, Iron Fist comic-accurate costume, Marvel Cinematic Universe, Danny Rand, MCU street-level heroes, Charlie Cox During a recent guest appearance at the 2024 New York Comic Con, “Daredevil: Born Again” series regular Finn Jones, who portrays fan-favorite martial arts hero Danny Rand / Iron Fist, sent MCU fans into a frenzy after teasing a full, long-awaited costume overhaul for his character in the show’s upcoming third season. For years, Iron Fist’s on-screen wardrobe has been a major point of criticism among Marvel fans. The original 2017 “Iron Fist” standalone series featured a low-budget, plain green tracksuit-style costume that lacked the iconic yellow accents, chest-mounted dragon emblem of K’un-Lun, and structured combat design that defines the character’s look in Marvel comic lore. Jones has openly acknowledged the fan frustration in past interviews, noting that he pushed Marvel Studios for a more faithful design when he was invited to join the “Daredevil: Born Again” cast back in 2023. According to Jones’ panel remarks, the new Iron Fist costume for Season 3 took Marvel’s costume department over six months to finalize, with iterative adjustments made to balance comic accuracy, functionality for high-intensity fight choreography, and alignment with the gritty, grounded tone of Netflix-era and current MCU street-level projects. Jones revealed that the finished suit features the full, embroidered immortal dragon emblem on the chest, classic yellow and green color blocking, reinforced padding for hand-to-hand combat sequences, and subtle ties to his backstory as the protector of K’un-Lun that were missing from all prior on-screen iterations of the character. The actor also noted that the costume reveal will come early in “Daredevil: Born Again” Season 3, which is currently in pre-production and expected to debut on Disney+ in late 2025. Jones added that the new suit is designed to match the visual style of Charlie Cox’s Daredevil suit, as the two characters will share multiple extended team-up sequences alongside other returning street-level heroes including Jessica Jones and Luke Cage throughout the season. Marvel Studios has not yet officially released any concept art or photos of the new Iron Fist costume, but Jones teased that a first look will be dropped for fans in the coming months as production ramps up.

Finally! The original Iron Fist costume was so underwhelming I almost skipped his appearances in other MCU shows. If they actually give us the comic-accurate dragon emblem and proper yellow-green suit, I’m definitely tuning in for Born Again Season 3 on release day.

Finn Jones was always the perfect cast for Danny Rand, it was the bad writing and lazy costume design that let him down in the original Iron Fist series. I’m so glad Marvel is fixing past mistakes and giving street-level heroes the attention they deserve. Can’t wait to see him fight alongside Daredevil in the new fit!

I was in the audience for that NYCC panel! He showed a 2-second blurry clip of the costume’s chest piece and the dragon embroidery looks so crisp and detailed, the whole crowd screamed. We’ve been waiting for this proper Iron Fist suit for 7 years at this point, it’s so surreal that it’s actually happening.

Remember when the first Iron Fist suit looked like it was bought from a last-minute discount Halloween rack? This upgrade is long overdue. If the costume team put this much care into his look, I have really high hopes for Danny’s character writing in Season 3 too.
