2024 Rocket Classic's Par 3 in the D Smashes Attendance and Charity Fundraising Records, Draws National Acclaim

Key keywords: Rocket Classic's Par 3 in the D, 2024 PGA Tour Canada affiliated event, Detroit downtown golf showcase, island green par 3 hole, fan-interactive golf experience, Detroit Youth Golf Foundation, professional-amateur golf pairing, hole-in-one prize giveaway The 2024 edition of Rocket Classic's Par 3 in the D, one of the most anticipated pre-tournament events of the PGA Tour Canada's Rocket Mortgage Classic series, wrapped up this weekend in downtown Detroit, drawing a record 12,000 on-site fans and over 2.3 million live stream viewers across North America. Held on a purpose-built 9-hole par 3 course adjacent to the Detroit River, the event merges elite competitive golf with community-focused entertainment, marking its 5th consecutive year of driving both golf engagement and local charity impact. This year's field featured 72 participants, including 24 PGA Tour Canada pros, 12 former PGA Tour major contenders, 24 amateur golfers who qualified via local city tournaments, and 12 celebrity guests ranging from Detroit-based NFL and NBA athletes to local business leaders. The most talked-about hole of the course is the 112-yard 7th hole, an island green modeled after TPC Sawgrass' iconic 17th hole, where players who card a hole-in-one win a fully loaded 2024 Rivian R1T pickup truck donated by a Detroit-based auto manufacturer. This year, three players hit hole-in-ones on the hole, marking the first time multiple aces have been recorded at the event in its history, with clips of the shots going viral across TikTok, Instagram and X, earning over 17 million combined views in 48 hours. Beyond the on-course action, the Par 3 in the D event raised a total of $1.87 million for the Detroit Youth Golf Foundation, which provides free golf lessons, equipment, and college scholarship opportunities for low-income youth across the city. Event organizers noted that 100% of ticket sales, merchandise revenue, and sponsor donations from the Par 3 event go directly to the foundation, with operating costs fully covered by title sponsor Rocket Mortgage. Since its launch in 2020, the event has raised over $5.2 million for local youth programs, supporting more than 3,200 young golfers in the Detroit metro area. Unlike traditional PGA Tour events where fans are restricted to roped-off areas hundreds of yards from players, the Par 3 in the D offers general admission ticket holders access to viewing platforms within 10 feet of every tee box and green, plus access to a free fan zone with golf simulators, local food trucks, and autograph sessions with participating pros. Organizers reported that ticket sales for the 2025 event will go on sale this coming October, with early-bird pricing available for the first 2,000 buyers, and plans to expand the course to 12 holes to accommodate more participants and fans.

I drove 3 hours from Cleveland to attend this year's Par 3 in the D and it was worth every penny! I was standing 10 feet away when the first hole-in-one was hit on the 7th hole, and the energy in the crowd was absolutely insane. Can't wait to come back next year with my entire golf group.

As a local Detroit high school golf coach, the funds raised from this event have allowed our team to get new clubs, pay for out-of-state tournament fees, and even send two of our senior players to college on partial golf scholarships this year. We're so grateful for how the Rocket Classic invests in our community instead of just treating Detroit as a tournament stop.

I played in the pro-am pairing this year and got to tee it up with one of my favorite PGA Tour players, Joel Dahmen. The course was in perfect shape, the fans were so energetic, and knowing that every dollar we raised goes to local kids makes this easily the best event I've played in all season. I already signed up for the 2025 qualifier.

I watched the live stream all weekend and was blown away by how accessible the event is for casual fans. The island green hole was so fun to watch, and I love that all the proceeds go to charity. I'm already planning a trip to Detroit for next year's event with my dad, who's been a golf fan for 40 years and has never gotten to be that close to pro players.
